Once you have made changes, saved, and closed a resource you can check it in.  There are several ways to do this:

  • Right-click on the resource in the Document Tree and select Edit > Check In.
  • Select the resource in the Document Tree (or in the Notebook Viewer) and click on the Check In button sites/default/files/images/Check In_2.png
  • Select the resource in the Checked Out Documents pane (in the Left Panel).  The title will appear in red font because it has been edited.  Click the Check In button on the Checked Out Documents toolbar.

This method is a "quick" check-in, because it skips the steps for editing metadata and changing the Edit State.  The business policy default setting for Checkin creates a new version.  Every time after this, when you edit this document and check it in, a new version will be created.  If you want your changes to overwrite the original rather than create a new version or if you want to edit metadata, use Full Check In sites/default/files/images/Full Check In_2.png .  Note that you can only overwrite the original if the original is still in a Versionable Edit state. This is covered in the next topic.

If Check In does not create a new version, it is because the business policy for Check In has been changed (by your System Admin), and in this case you will need to use Full Check In to start version control.

If you don't want to save any of your changes, click on Uncheckout sites/default/files/images/Uncheckout_1.png.
